Ingredients to make Forbidden /Black Rice Pancakes

  • Black rice 1 cup
  • wheat flour 1/2 cup
  • Powdered jaggery 3 tablespoons
  • nutmeg powder 1/4 teaspoon
  • ghee for shallow frying as prefered
  • water required for grinding

How to make Forbidden /Black Rice Pancakes

  1. Firstly, wash black rice thoroughly and soak overnight .
  2. Grind the soaked rice , powdered jaggery by adding required water to a smooth batter.
  3. In a bowl , take wheat flour and nutmeg powder.
  4. Add the black rice batter .
  5. Knead into a smooth dough . Add extra flour if dough looks sticky .
  6. Make small even sized balls ought of the dough using ghee greased palms .
  7. Flatten each balls into medium thickness discs .
  8. Heat a skillet . Fry the discs on the hot skillet until brown spots appear both sides. Smear ghee as preferred.
  9. Forbidden/Black rice pancakes are ready. Serve warm.
