It's a very famous Sindhi dish which is actually bengal gram lentil gravy with crispy Indian bread.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. All purpose flour...2cup
  2. Bengal gram/Chana dal...1cup
  3. Onion...2
  4. Tomato...2
  5. ginger garlic paste...1tspn
  6. Green chilli...2
  7. Red dry chilli...1
  8. Cumin...1tspn
  9. Carom seeds...1tspn
  10. Tarmaric powder...1tspn
  11. Red chilli powder...1tspn
  12. cumin powder...1tspn
  13. Ghee...1tspn
  14. tamarind chutney...2tspn
  15. Green chutney...2tspn
  16. oil
  17. Chopped onion,coriander leaves for decoration


  1. Heat 1tspn oil,add chopped onion.tomato, ginger garlic paste & salt.Fry it for few minutes.
  2. Soak chana dal in water for an hour.Now add this daal,green chilli,sugar,turmeric powder, cumin powder & red chilli powder to the onion mixture.Mix it well.
  3. Now put it in a pressure cooker with enough water & after 2 whistle switch off the flame.Then cook it in medium flame till the gravy became thick.
  4. Heat 1tspn ghee in a pan & fry 1 dry red chilli & cumin seeds for a second & mix it to the lentil gravy.Just before serving add extra chopped onion,coriander leaves, green & tamarind chutney over it.
  5. For pakwaan, make a dough of flour,salt,carom seeds,1tspn oil & required hot water.Keep rest for 15 minutes.
  6. Then take small portion from dough,roll out small pooris & make some holes on it using fork.
  7. Heat enough oil in a kadhai & deep fry it.
  8. Very tasty & mouth watering dish is ready to serve.
