ABOUT Coconut modak RECIPE

Mawa Coconut Modak is a very simple recipe which is a must for the Celebration of the Ganesh Festival. Modak is a very famous sweet offering which is considered as the favorite of Lord Ganesha. This preparation is very simple and yet delicious tasting. This has a great fusion of taste of  Mawa, Coconut & Dry Fruits.

Ingredients Serving: 8

  1. 1cups grated mawa / khoya
  2. 1/3 cup desiccated coconut/dry coconut
  3. 1/2 tsp ground cardamom
  4. 1/2 tsp saffrons
  5. 2 to 3 tbsp condense milk
  6. Orange food color
  7. Sugar if needed (sugar is not necessary bcz of already i added condence milk )


  1. In a kadhai or heavy bottomed pan, heat the khoya over medium heat till it all comes together to one solid mass like dough.
  2. Now Add the coconut, cardamom ,food color and saffron and cook for 5 min and then add condensemilk and mix it well with spetulla. It should be a loose dough like consistency.
  3. Remove from heat and let it cool, till it comfortable to work with. Now grease the moulds with using ghee and start to shaping modak, filled mould colse and fill the mixture tightly and press it from the bottom hole.
  4. Lastly open mould and caregully remove it and place it on the serving plate.
  5. Coconut Modak is ready to serve.
