ABOUT Matar Makhana Tikki RECIPE

Matar makhana tikki is a delicious teatime snack made with very little oil and needs few ingredients to get this delight done. This snack is vegan, gluten-free, and completely flour-less. The combination of matar with makhana gives a different flavor, completely different from the potato mix.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. Hari Matar/Green peas- 1- cup
  2. Makhana/Fox nuts- 1/2- cup
  3. Kaju/Cashewnut- 1- tbsp
  4. Oil- 3- tbsp
  5. Green chili chopped- 2- pieces
  6. Coriander leaves chopped- 1- tbsp
  7. Ginger grated- 1- tsp
  8. Garlic chopped- 1- tbsp
  9. Salt- 1- tsp
  10. Amchur powder- 1- tsp

Instructions

  1. Dry roast makhana for 5 min (till it is crisp), add cashew, and roast for another minute. Remove from flame.
  2. Grind and make a powder of it.
  3. Heat 1 tbsp oil in a pan or kadai, add green chili, grated ginger, and chopped garlic. Fry for a minute. Add matar, mix and cover to let it cook till soft.
  4. When matar is done, cool down and grind it to a coarse paste. (Do not add water)
  5. In a big bowl or plate, add foxnut-cashew powder, peas paste, amchur powder, coriander leaves, and salt. Mix well.
  6. Shape into Tikki, place half kaju on top, and press gently. Shallow fry on medium flame till light brown on both sides.
  7. Serve hot with a dip of your choice
