Ingredients to make Poondu kuzhambu (Garlic gravy)

  • shallots peeled 1/2 cup
  • garlic peeled 1 cup
  • tomato small 2 chopped
  • chilli powder 1 tsp
  • pepper 2 tsp
  • cumin 1 tsp
  • salt as per taste
  • curry leaves a few
  • fenugreek seeds 1/2 tsp
  • Gingelly oil 2 - 4 tbsp
  • tamarind pulp 3 tsp
  • turmeric powder a pinch

How to make Poondu kuzhambu (Garlic gravy)

  1. In a dry pan roast pepper and cumin seeds then grind it in a mixer.
  2. In the same pan add oil, fenugreek, curry leaves, shallots, garlic, tomato, salt one by one.
  3. Once its turns brown, add turmeric powder and chilli powder. Saute for 1 minute.
  4. Add tamarind pulp and add the required water. Allow it to boil
  5. Add pepper and cumin powder. After 1 minute turn of the flame.

My Tip:

You can add pepper and cumin ready made powder also.
