ABOUT Doi Maach RECIPE

A simple yet delicious recipe of fish cooked in curd and indian spices.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Rohu fish 1/2 kg cleaned descaled and cut into thick slices
  2. For marination:
  3. Fresh hung curd 2 cups
  4. Turmeric Powder 3/4 tsp
  5. coriander powder 1 tsp
  6. Salt to taste
  7. Red chilli powder 1 tsp
  8. Lemon juice 1/2 tsp
  9. Mustard oil 1/2 cup
  10. Green chillis 4 sliced
  11. Cloves 4-5
  12. Green cardamom 4
  13. Bay leaves 2 large
  14. Onions 1 large chopped into thin slices

Instructions

  1. Marinate the fish in hung curd, salt, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, lemon juice and set aside for 1 hour.
  2. Add mustard oil in a pan heat it till it starts to give out fumes.
  3. Add bay leaves, green chillies, cloves, green cardamom and allow these to splutter.
  4. Add onions and saute till brown. Add coriander powder.
  5. Add in the marinated fish with all of the marinade mixture.
  6. Cover the lid and cook for 20 minutes or till the time fish is completely cooked. Stir but be careful not to break the pieces.
  7. Serve hot with steamed rice.
