About Doi Mach Recipe

This recipe is a Fish recipe made of Rohu/Roi Mach. A gravy based curry of fish. Doi Mach means fish cooked in a gravy of curd. A common Bengali recipe of fish.

Doi Mach

Ingredients to make Doi Mach

  • Rohu/Roi Fish 3-4 pieces
  • 1 onion
  • 1 inch ginger
  • 1 pod of garlic
  • 3-4 cashews
  • 1/2 cup of curd
  • salt as per taste
  • turmeric powder 1/3 tablespoon
  • 2-3 green chillies
  • mustard oil 3-4 tablespoon

How to make Doi Mach

  1. Make a paste of onion, ginger, garlic, cashews
  2. Marinate the fish with salt and turmeric powder.
  3. Heat oil in a pan and add the fish, curd and onion paste all together.
  4. Sauté it and let it cook by covering with a lid. Add little water (1/4 cup) and cook in medium flame for 10 minutes
  5. Serve with plain rice

My Tip:

Add water while cooking if you need as required to cook the fish.
