Chicken Kuzhambu

Ingredients to make Chicken Kuzhambu

  • onion (big) 1
  • tomato (medium) 2
  • ginger Garlic paste 2 tbsp
  • green chillies 2
  • chicken 400 gms
  • coconut 1/2 cup
  • Roasted gram dal 2tbsp + 1 tsp saunf seeds ground to a smooth paste
  • saunf 1 tsp
  • jeera 1 tsp
  • chilli powder 3 tbsp
  • clove a few
  • cinnamon as per taste
  • bay leaf 1- 2
  • turmeric powder as per taste
  • salt as required
  • oil 3 tbsp
  • water 3 cups

How to make Chicken Kuzhambu

  1. In a cooker, add oil and season it with cinnamon stick, cloves, jeera, curry leaves and then add chopped onions, slit green chillies and ginger garlic paste.
  2. Saute it well, add tomatoes and saute again.
  3. Add chilli powder, turmeric powder, salt and chicken pieces. Mix well, add water and pressure cook it for 3 whistles.
  4. Add ground coconut paste to the chicken and let it boil.
  5. Season it with corriander leaves
  6. Serve it with hot rice. It goes well with idli, dosa and chapathi also.
