Ingredients to make Moong dal usli

  • moong dal 1 cup
  • green chillies 3
  • curry leaves 1 sprig
  • ginger 1/2 inch piece finely chopped (optional)
  • salt to taste
  • mustard 1/2 tsp
  • Grated coconut for garnishing
  • water 1 1/2 Cup

How to make Moong dal usli

  1. Take a kadai and heat some oil. Splutter mustard seeds, then add curry leaves, green chillies and ginger. Saute for a while.
  2. Add water, salt and bring to a boil.
  3. Add moong dal and cook covered on a low flame.
  4. Once the moong dal is cooked, turn off the flame.
  5. Garnish with grated coconut and serve.

Please take care not to add more water as the usli becomes soggy.
