ABOUT Bharwan Mirch in Microwave RECIPE

Bharwan Mirch is a dish I enjoyed a lot as a child. This dish was normally made by my grandmother .I did some research on this and found that it is known by different names in hindi this bharwan mirch , in Marathi it is called as bharli marchi or bhareleli mirchi & in gujarati it is called as bharela marcha. I also found that it is made in a variety of ways using besan,, grated coconut , and crushed peanuts with different spices and tang of lemon juice , amchur or imli is added to it. However, I have just stuck to the simple way my grandmother used to make it. I hope you guys too enjoy it.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Thick Green Chillies - 4
  2. Boiled Potatoes - 3 medium size
  3. Oil - 2 tbsp
  4. Salt as required
  5. Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
  6. Haldi - 1/2 tsp
  7. Coriander Powder - 1/2 tsp
  8. Amchur powder - 1/2 tsp
  9. Garam masala - 1/2 tsp

Instructions

  1. Wash and clean the green chillies properly.
  2. Pat dry the chillies.
  3. Slit the chillies from the middle and take out the seeds.(you can keep the seeds if you like them. I usually take them out).
  4. For the stuffing:
  5. Mash the potatoes.
  6. Take a frying pan. Put oil into it
  7. Add all the spices together and mix thoroughly.
  8. Add the mashed potatoes and mix well.
  9. Add amchur powder and garam masala. Mix well and turn off the gas.
  10. Once the stuffing has cooled, put it into the slit chillies using a spoon. Fill it to the top, pinch them a little from the sides.
  11. Take a pastry brush and grease a microwave safe bowl with a little oil.
  12. Using the same pastry brush, grease the chillies also and place them in the microwave safe bowl.
  13. Microwave on high for 3 minutes.
  14. After 3 minutes, take out the bowl and turn the chillies on the other side.
  15. Microwave again on high for 2 minutes.
  16. The chillies require a crust on them which can be done only on gas, so heat up the same pan in which you made the stuffing. Just grease it again with a little oil and add the chillies to it. Turn them quickly when the crust starts forming.
  17. They are a great side dish and can be had cold also.
