Ingredients to make Dahi Wada for Fast( Navaratri recipe)

  • Moriyo (Indian barnyard millet) 1 cup
  • curd 500 grms (prepared at home of 1/2 litre milk)
  • ginger grated 1 tsp
  • Zeera powder 2 tsp
  • mint leaves finely chopped 2 tsp
  • coriander leaves finely chopped 1 tsp
  • almonds blanched and chopped 1 tbsp
  • Sindhav salt (for fast)
  • red chilli powder 1 tsp (optional)
  • Green chilli finely chopped 1 tsp
  • tamarind jaggery chutney (prepared at home) 2 tbsp
  • Groundnut oil for frying

How to make Dahi Wada for Fast( Navaratri recipe)

  1. Wash and pressure cook "Moriyo" by adding 1 1/2 cup water for 2 to 3 whistles.
  2. Check the consistency. If should be kneadable (like roti flour). If not then just saute in a pan without oil to evaporate extra water.
  3. Add salt and a tsp oil. Make balls and deep fry.
  4. Beat curd, add Rock Salt (Sindhav), Sugar, ginger, mint leaves.
  5. Take pakora in a bowl. Pour curd mixture, sprinkle zeera, chilli and garnish with almonds. Serve with Tamarind Chutney.

My Tip:

Don't add much oil while kneading Moriyo as it will soak too much oil and do it with soft hands.
