Chilli Fish

Ingredients to make Chilli Fish

  • Fish (boneless cut into small pieces)- 250 gm
  • ginger-Garlic Paste- 1 tsp
  • red chilli Powder- 2 tsp
  • coriander powder- 1 tsp
  • turmeric powder- 1/2 tsp
  • salt- 1/2 tsp
  • all purpose flour/maida- 2 tbsp
  • Corn flour- 2 tbsp
  • Dark soya sauce- 1/2 tsp
  • water- 2 tbsp
  • salt- 1/2 tsp
  • oil for frying
  • onion (diced)- 1
  • capsicum (diced)- 1/2
  • garlic (chopped)- 4 cloves
  • red chilli flakes- 2 tsp
  • green chillies (sliced)- 3
  • Dark soya sauce- 1 tsp
  • tomato sauce- 2 tbsp
  • vinegar or lemon juice- 1 tsp
  • Stalk of spring onions- 1/4 cup
  • salt- 1 tsp
  • oil- 2 tbsp

How to make Chilli Fish

  1. Clean the fish fillets and cut them into bite sized chunks.
  2. Marinate the fish with ginger-garlic paste, red chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder and salt for 15 minutes.
  3. Next, add the items, all purpose flour, corn flour, dark soya sauce, water and salt to the marinated fish. Sprinkle little water so that the fish gets completely coated with the batter. (The batter should not be too thin.)
  4. Heat oil in a pan and fry the battered fishes until they are done.
  5. Heat little oil in another pan, add in the chopped garlic and fry until it's fragrant. Add the chilli flakes and the diced onion, saute on a high heat for a minute.
  6. Next, add in the diced capsicum and sliced green chillies. Cook for another minute.
  7. Add in the soya sauce, tomato sauce and lemon juice or vinegar and saute on a high flame.
  8. Check the salt as per taste, then add in the fried fish pieces and saute for 2 minutes for the sauces to get nicely coated on the fish.
  9. Add the chopped spring onions. Give it a quick stir and turn off the flame.
  10. Serve it hot with rice or roti.
