Tandoori Chicken

Ingredients to make Tandoori Chicken

  • 4 chicken legs, cleaned and dried
  • 2 tablespoon mustard oil
  • 1/2 cup hung curd
  • 1 Tablespoon ginger and garlic paste.
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chilli powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin and coriander powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon tandoori masala powder
  • 1 pinch of turmeric powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon chat masala
  • black salt to taste
  • 2 teaspoon lemon juice
  • butter for basting

How to make Tandoori Chicken

  1. Make slits on the chicken. Then apply salt, ginger-garlic paste, lemon juice on the chicken pieces as a first marination and keep it aside for 30 minutes.
  2. For the second marination, add mustard oil in a bowl. Then add the red chilli powder in the oil and soak it for 1 minute.
  3. Now add in all the spices and salt to the oil mixture and mix it well. Then add curd and lemon juice to the bowl.
  4. After 30 minutes, take the chicken pieces from first marination and add it to the second marination. Marinate it once again for 30 minutes in the second marination.
  5. Now put the chicken pieces on the skewers and cook it on the charcoal. Baste it with butter.
  6. Serve it hot with mint sauce and onion salad.

My Tip:

Use small chicken (700-800 gms) for tandoori. Use kashmiri red chilli powder for color.
