Beetroot khichadi is a yogurt based curry mainly prepared for Kerala Sadya recipes.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. Beetroot 2 medium
  2. Onion 1 small
  3. Green chillies 3
  4. Mustard seeds 1 tsp
  5. Curry leaves 4-5
  6. Oil as required
  7. Curd 250 ml


  1. Grate the beetroot finely. Then mix the chopped onion and green chillies with the grated beetroot.
  2. Heat a pan with oil, then add in the mustard seeds, wait for it to splutter then add in the curry leaves.
  3. Now add the beetroot-onion mixture to the pan, it will take 5 to 7 mins to cook.
  4. Take 250 ml curd in a bowl and mix the beetroot with this curd. It is ready to be served.
