ABOUT Flaxseed Jaggery Laddu RECIPE

Rustic, delicious and a traditional recipe, flaxseed laddus have great taste of peanuts and jaggery combo while flaxseeds give them a great texture and adds omega-3 fatty acids and a whole lot of essential vitamins and minerals. Make them and enjoy them with your tea or satiate your hunger pangs the healthy way!

Ingredients Serving: 12

  1. 1 cup peanuts (shelled)
  2. 1/2 cup flaxseeds
  3. 1 cup jaggery crumbled
  4. 2 teaspoons ghee (preferably ghee from cow's milk)

Instructions

  1. Take peanuts in a baking tray. Preheat oven to 150 degrees C. Toast nuts for about 12-15 minutes till the nuts begin to crackle and turn golden brown. Keep nuts to cool.
  2. Take flaxseeds in a thick bottom steel wok. Roast on medium heat till the seeds begin to crackle. Turn off the heat when the seeds begin to change color and a sweet aroma emanates. let the seeds cool.
  3. In the meantime, crumble jaggery.
  4. Rub nuts between hands to remove skin. Grind nuts to a fine powder.
  5. Grind flaxseeds to a fine powder.
  6. Transfer powdered nuts, flaxseeds, and jaggery to a wide mouthed deep bowl. Mix thoroughly with hands. Break lumps of jaggery if any.
  7. Add ghee. Mix well.
  8. Take mixture in your right hand and press tightly to get walnut size balls.
  9. Store in an airtight container.
