Ingredients to make Harira (Jaggery Soup)

  • 1 glass of water
  • Small piece of jaggery (2 spoons of grated gur)
  • Pinch of asafoetida (hing)
  • 1/4 tablespoon of turmeric powder (haldi)
  • 1/4 tablespoon ghee
  • 1/4 tablespoon black pepper
  • 1/2 tablespoon Posta dana (khas-khas)
  • 3-4 almonds
  • 3-4 dry dates (chohara)

How to make Harira (Jaggery Soup)

  1. Cut the almonds and dry dates into small pieces
  2. Heat up the ghee and add hing, posta dana, almonds and dry date pieces
  3. Roast them till golden brown
  4. Add water, jaggery, turmeric powder and black pepper. Boil it for 4-5 min
  5. Serve hot
