Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. 1/2 kg black millet (bajra)
  2. 5 tbsp Desi ghee
  3. salt as per taste
  4. 2.5 liter Water for cooking


  1. Soak black millet for 20 min.
  2. Remove extra water
  3. Put the black millet in mixer and grind it for 5 seconds
  4. Spread it to dry it for 5 to 10 min.
  5. Remove the Husk of black millet with the help of Winnow (supa or chhaaj in Hindi )
  6. Then grind it coarsely in mixer.
  7. Heat water in a thick bottom pan so that khichdi does not stick to the pan.
  8. Add salt and 3tbsp ghee
  9. Now add coarsely ground bajra in water and keep stirring o to avoid lumps
  10. Cook it in low flame for 20 to 30 min and keep stirring it in small intervals
  11. If khichdi is very thick you can add water in it and cook it.
  12. Khichdi is ready. Add remaining ghee in it .
  13. Serve the khichdi with hot ghee and kadhi
