Ingredients to make Sarso Da Saag

  • spinach 2 cups
  • sarson leaves 2 cup
  • Zeera 2 tsp
  • mustard Oil 1 Tbsp
  • ginger garlic paste 2 tsp
  • tamarind 2 pieces
  • sugar 1 tsp
  • red chilli powder
  • haldi powder
  • butter 1 tbsp to serve
  • salt to taste
  • coriander powder 1 tsp
  • Zeera powder 1 tsp
  • green chillie 1

How to make Sarso Da Saag

  1. Boil water in a deep vessel, add the mustard leaves, spinach and green chillies,cook it on high flame for 5 min. don't over cook otherwise the colour will become dull
  2. Strain and drain water well. Refresh it twice in enough cold water immediately and drain well the cooking process will stop.
  3. Now blend it using 1/2 cup of water
  4. Heat a non-stick kadai, add oil and put jeerain it, once it splutters add onion, ginger garlic paste, asafoetida and saute on medium flame for 1 min.
  5. Then add tamarind, turmeric powder, chilli powder, coriander-cumin seeds powder ,sugar and salt,
  6. Now add the mixture of spinach mustard leaves.mix well and cook on a medium flame for 2 to 3 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  7. Serve hot with makai di roti and butter . Enjoy

My Tip:

you can twist by adding fried paneer
