Regular dish from my kitchen . We prepare it regularly with dry masalasa. But in winter season I love to cook with goodness of greens. My kiddos love to eat this. Goes great with bajre ki roti, makke ki roti and parathas.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Urad daal (white) 1 cup
  2. Chopped green garlic 1/2 cup
  3. Crushed green chilli 7-8
  4. Crushed ginger 1 small piece
  5. Chopped fresh coriander leaves 1/2 cup
  6. Water 2 glass
  7. Salt to taste
  8. Cumin seeds 1/2tsp
  9. Bayleaf 2
  10. Cloves 2 or 3
  11. Cinnamon 1 small piece
  12. Star anise 1
  13. Dry red chilli 2
  14. Asafoetida 1/4 Tsp
  15. Garam masala 1/2 tsp ( optional)
  16. Ghee 2 tbs


  1. Take a daal and wash it. Then soak in water for 10 minutes.
  2. Now add daal into the cooker with 2 glass water and give 3 whistle.
  3. Now take a pan and add ghee.
  4. Now add cumin seeds. When they crackle, add asafoetida.
  5. Now add cloves, star anise, bayleaf, cinnamon, dry red chilly.
  6. Now add green garlic and crushed chilli and ginger paste in it.
  7. Give tadka into the daal and add coriander powder and salt.
  8. Cover and cook for 10 -15 minutes.
  9. Now add garam masala and cook for 5 minutes.
  10. Sprinkle some fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with lemon and onion.
