Urad daal

Ingredients to make Urad daal

  • Urad daal (white) 1 cup
  • Chopped green garlic 1/2 cup
  • Crushed green chilli 7-8
  • Crushed ginger 1 small piece
  • Chopped fresh coriander leaves 1/2 cup
  • water 2 glass
  • salt to taste
  • cumin seeds 1/2tsp
  • Bayleaf 2
  • cloves 2 or 3
  • cinnamon 1 small piece
  • star anise 1
  • Dry red chilli 2
  • asafoetida 1/4 Tsp
  • Garam masala 1/2 tsp ( optional)
  • ghee 2 tbs

How to make Urad daal

  1. Take a daal and wash it. Then soak in water for 10 minutes.
  2. Now add daal into the cooker with 2 glass water and give 3 whistle.
  3. Now take a pan and add ghee.
  4. Now add cumin seeds. When they crackle, add asafoetida.
  5. Now add cloves, star anise, bayleaf, cinnamon, dry red chilly.
  6. Now add green garlic and crushed chilli and ginger paste in it.
  7. Give tadka into the daal and add coriander powder and salt.
  8. Cover and cook for 10 -15 minutes.
  9. Now add garam masala and cook for 5 minutes.
  10. Sprinkle some fresh coriander leaves and serve hot with lemon and onion.
