Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. Whole eggplant roasted or boiled 1
  2. Tahini 2 tablespoons
  3. Curd 2 tablespoons
  4. Olive Oil 4 tablespoons
  5. Fresh fish roundles 600 gms cut into 6 pieces
  6. Ginger and garlic paste 1 teaspoon
  7. Paprika powder 1 teaspoon
  8. Sumac 1 teaspoon
  9. Zatar 1 teaspoon
  10. Cinnamon powder 1 teaspoon
  11. Cumin powder 1/2 teaspoon
  12. Cardamom powder 1 teaspoon
  13. Cayenne pepper 1/2 teaspoon
  14. Juice of 1 lemon
  15. Salt to taste
  16. Bell pepper for garnish

Instructions

  1. Marinate the fish roundles with ginger and garlic paste.
  2. Add lime juice.
  3. Add salt to taste.
  4. Refrigerate this marinated fish for 30 minutes.
  5. Make a dry spice mix with paprika powder, cumin powder, cinnamon powder, cardamom powder, cayenne pepper powder, sumac and zatar.
  6. Take out the marinated fish and rub required quantity of the dry spice mix on the fish.
  7. Leave for 15 minutes for the fish to absorb all the spices.
  8. Add 2 tablespoons of olive oil to the fish.
  9. Heat a non stick tawa and put the fish on the tawa.
  10. Fry the fish from both sides and set aside.
  11. For mutabbal(dip)- Take the roasted/boiled eggplant and chop it very finely.
  12. Add tahini to the eggplant.
  13. Add olive oil, curd and salt.
  14. Add paprika if you wish.
  15. Now mix this well and set aside.
  16. To assemble serve the tawa fried fish and the mutabbal dip.
  17. Sprinkle bell peppers on top for garnish.
  18. Drizzle extra olive oil over the dip.
  19. Serve hot.
