ABOUT Tapioca chicken biriyani.(kappa chicken biriyani) RECIPE

A very popular dish in Kerala, as a street food and homely food. Usually, this is made with beef, but I cooked with chicken.

Ingredients Serving: 3

  1. Tapoica cut into pieces 3 cups
  2. Boneless chicken pieces 1 1/2 cups
  3. onion 1 big,or 2 medium
  4. green chillies 3
  5. Ginger garlic paste 1 tsp
  6. chilli powder 1 tsp
  7. coriander powder 1 tsp
  8. Garam masala 1/4 tsp
  9. Salt and turmeric.
  10. Coriander leaves
  11. oil

Instructions

  1. Cook tapioca in a cooker with turmeric and salt. Cook for 1 or 2 whistles. Turn off the heat
  2. Cook with chicken, add all masalas and 1/2 tsp ginger garlic paste and salt. Add very little water. Cook chicken also in a cooker. Cook for just 5 mins.
  3. Take a pan, put 2 tbsp oil. Add ginger garlic paste,fry well. Add sliced onion,green chillies and curry leaves. When well fried, add cooked chicken ,stir well till it is almost dry.then add cooked tapioca mix well for another 5 minutes.
  4. I have seen in kappa biriyani kappa is well mashed, almost like a paste. But I did not do that. I cooked well and added some pieces. Adjust seasoning. Add coriander leaves. Serve
