Ingredients to make Orange Self Saucing Pudding

  • For the pudding
  • Maida/all purpose flour -1 and 1/4cups
  • Baking powder -2 teaspoons
  • salt-1/4 teaspoon
  • Brown sugar-1/2 cup
  • egg-1
  • Milk -1/2cup
  • butter(melted)-50grams
  • Orange zest from two oranges
  • Vanilla essence-2 teaspoons
  • For the Sauce -
  • Fine granulated sugar-1/4cup
  • cornflour -1teaspoon
  • Fresh orange juice -1/2cup
  • Boiling water-1/2 cup

How to make Orange Self Saucing Pudding

  1. First in a wide bowl sift in the flour, baking powder and salt.
  2. Add in the brown sugar and mix well.
  3. Add the orange zest and combine well.
  4. In a separate bowl, mix the milk,melted butter,vanilla essence and egg.
  5. Add this milk mix to the flour mix and fold well with a spatula.
  6. Preheat the oven at 180deg C for ten minutes.
  7. Meanwhile grease four ramekins with butter.
  8. Divide the pudding mix between the ramekins.
  9. For the sauce first mix the sugar and cornflour in a small bowl.
  10. Sprinkle this mix over the pudding mix in the ramekins.
  11. Boil the water well and mix the orange juice with it.
  12. Pour this over each pudding mix before placing in oven.
  13. Bake in an oven for around 20 minutes till golden on top.

My Tip:

I made my own self-raising flour with maida, baking powder and salt. If you have self-raising flour you can directly use 1.25cups. Serve it hot for the best taste. You can also serve with a dollop of icecream. Check the pudding with a small spoon after twenty minutes if done. Don't let it get burnt.
