ABOUT Eggless Paalada Paal Kesari Cake RECIPE

Palada pradhaman is a sweet dish made of flakes of cooked rice, milk, and sugar. A Sadhya means “big feast” in Malayalam is not complete without this dessert.In kerala instant Palada pradhaman mix is available . With this palada /flakes of cooked rice,milk and sugar, I thought of making Palada Pal Kesari .Now being a Christmas season, thought of baking a cake with this palada palkesari. Friends try this unique cake and enjoy this Christmas with this Paladapal kesari cake.

Ingredients Serving: 10

  1. Butter- 1/2 cup
  2. Paalada kesari -3/4 cup
  3. Caster Sugar-1 cup
  4. Curd-3/4 cup
  5. Cardamom Powder-3/4 tsp
  6. All Purpose Flour/ Maida-2 cups
  7. Corn Flour-1/4 cup
  8. Baking Powder-1 tsp
  9. Salt-1/4 tsp
  10. Milk-1 cup
  11. Ingredienst for Palaada Keasri
  12. Instant Palaada Kesari mix - 2 cups
  13. Milk - 4 cups
  14. Ghee - 2 tsp
  15. Ingredients for Thandai Mix-
  16. Almonds 1/2 cup
  17. Milk - 3 tbsp
  18. Melon seeds - 1 tbsp
  19. cardamom - 3 pods Green
  20. Pista - 4
  21. White pepper whole - 4
  22. Black pepper - 2
  23. Rose petals or rose water - 6 to 8 petals or 2 tbsps of rose water
  24. fennel seeds - 1/4 tsp
  25. poppy seeds - 1/4 tsp
  26. Saffron - a pinch
  27. For thandai fresh Cream frosting -
  28. Whipping cream - 1 cup
  29. Icing sugar - 4 cups
  30. Thandai masala - 4 tbsps

Instructions

  1. For making Paalada kesari -
  2. Boil four cups of milk in a pan and add two cups of instant paalada payasam mix and cook it on a medium flame adding two tsps of ghee.
  3. Cook on low flame till the moisture evaporates,and until the kesari starts to leave the sides of the pan.
  4. Remove from fire and allow it to cool.
  5. 4.	Paalada paal kesari is ready.
  6. For making Paalada Pal Kesari Cake-
  7. Cream together butter and sugar until fluffy.
  8. Add paalada paal kesari and beat well until creamy.
  9. In a bowl mix together flour, corn flour, baking powder, cardamom powder and salt.
  10. Add curd to the butter mixture and cream together.
  11. Add milk and mix until incorporated.
  12. Add the flour mixture and gently fold in until all the flour is incorporated.
  13. Preheat oven to 180 degree C.
  14. 8.	Grease and dust an 8″ round pan.
  15. Pour the prepared batter into the pan.
  16. Bake in oven for one hour. When a tooth pick comes out clean, remove from oven and allow it to cool for 10 minutes.
  17. Flip the cake on to a wire rack and allow it to cool completely.
  18. Method for making thandai masala
  19. Soak the melon seeds and almonds for two hours.
  20. Soak saffron seperately in a teaspoon of milk.
  21. After two hours blend melon seeds ,almonds and other ingredients together to a paste and keep it aside.
  22. For thandai Cream frosting-
  23. Beat the cream with paddle attachment of mixer, keeping the mixer on low speed.
  24. Turn up speed to medium add thandai masala and beat well until desired and spreadable consistency is reached.
  25. Spread the whipped Thandai Cream evenly on the cake and decorate the cake as you wish
