A Marinated and Fried Basa Fish In a Chinese Sweet and Sour Sauce for the Christmas Party ( i had eaten this in Mainland China and loved it. )

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Basa fillet - 1 ( 250 grams )
  2. Marinade-
  3. Egg 1
  4. Soya sauce 1 tsp
  5. Pepper powder 1/2 tsp
  6. Salt 1 tsp ( to taste )
  7. Corn flour 2 tbsp
  8. Corn flour slurry
  9. Corn flour 2 tbsp
  10. Water ( 1 tbsp )
  11. For sauce -
  12. Soya sauce 1 tsp
  13. Honey 1 tsp
  14. Apple cider vinegar 1 tsp
  15. Onion chopped 1
  16. Garlic chopped 3
  17. Red bell pepper 1/4 cup
  18. Spring onions Chopped 1 tbsp
  19. Salt and pepper 1 pinch

Instructions

  1. Wash Basa fillets throughly ( be careful not to break)
  2. Beat eggs. Add soya sauce, salt and pepper and corn Starch.
  3. Fold Basa in the mixture and refrigerate for 15 to 20 minutes to marinate.
  4. Heat oil in a pan. Fry Basa fillets carefully for 2 minutes. Take out and keep on an absorbent paper to get the extra oil soaked.
  5. In a pan heat 1 tsp oil , add garlic , fry till brown , add Onions, fry for 3 minutes. Add Spring onions,red bell pepper.
  6. Add 1 tbsp water , add Soya sauce, Apple cider vinegar and Honey.
  7. Stir , add Cornflour slurry and salt pepper. Make the sauce.
  8. Pour the sauce over the fish. Serve with buttered rice.
