Tawa cake

Ingredients to make Tawa cake

  • wheat flour : 1 cup
  • maida : 1 cup
  • Bread crumbs : 2 tbsp
  • 1-1/2 cup or powder sugar to taste
  • Milk : 1/2 cup
  • Little sour curd : 2 tbsp
  • water : as needed to make batter. Batter should be thick but pouring.
  • Baking powder : 1/2 tbsp
  • baking soda : 1 tbsp
  • Vanilla essence : 1 tsp
  • Cardamon powder : 1/2 tsp

How to make Tawa cake

  1. In a bowl mix maida, wheat flour, bread crumbs, left over sugar syrup or sugar to taste. Mix well.
  2. Add milk, water and mix well. Add curd, vanilla essence and cardamon powder. Mix well. No lumps should remain.
  3. Cover the bowl with lid and let it sit for 1/2 hr...so that everything mixes well.
  4. In a bowl mix Now add baking powder and baking soda. Mix softly.
  5. Heat tawa on slow flame. When it is little warm pour a ladlefull of cake batter on it. Do not spread. Let it remain like this and cook on slow flame. Drizzle little oil on sides. When bubbles appear on top and it puffs up and starts to dry up a little turn its side.
  6. Again let it cook on slow flame only. It will puff up a little and turn golden brown.
  7. Transfer tawa cake to plate. Serve with honey or whipped cream or with chocolate syrup.

My Tip:

Cook the cakes always on a low flame so that it cooks all the way through.
