Whole Wheat Marble Cake

Ingredients to make Whole Wheat Marble Cake

  • Whole wheat flour - 1 cup
  • eggs - 2
  • sugar -3/4 Cup
  • Cocoa - 1 tbsp
  • butter - 50 gms
  • Milk - 1 cup plus 1 tbsp
  • Baking powder - 1 tsp
  • baking soda - 1/2 tsp
  • Vanilla - 1 tsp

How to make Whole Wheat Marble Cake

  1. Sieve the flour, baking powder and soda a couple of times and keep aside
  2. Combine eggs and sugar and whisk until frothy and well-combined
  3. Add butter and whisk to combine. The butter should be soft and at room temperature when being used
  4. Add milk and vanilla and give it a mix
  5. Fold in dry ingredients and mix to get a smooth batter, without lumps
  6. Transfer half the batter to another bowl and add sieved cocoa plus one tbsp milk to this. Mix to get a smooth chocolate flavoured batter
  7. Now we have equal quantities of two batters- chocolate and vanilla
  8. Grease a round baking tin and drop one large dollop of vanilla batter in the middle. On top of it, add one dollop of chocolate batter. Keep adding batters alternatively, on top of each other, till the batters are over
  9. Tap the tin so that the batter spreads evenly across the tin
  10. Bake in a pre-heated oven at 180 degrees for 35-45 mins, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean
