Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 4 pieces clean fresh hilsa fish
  2. 3 - 4 red / green chilli sliced
  3. Yellow mustard paste 3/4 teaspoon
  4. Coconut powder -2/3 teaspoon
  5. Mustard oil - 6/7 teaspoon
  6. Salt - 1 teaspoon
  7. Water - half cup
  8. Ginger - 1 teaspoon
  9. Cumin Powder - 1/2 teaspoon
  10. Turmeric -1/4 teaspoon

Instructions

  1. It's a one step cooking process because we are going to mix everything together and pop the fish in the microwave.
  2. First we need to make a paste of mustard seeds paste and add ginger and the coconut powder and blend it again for a min
  3. Now in microwave safe bowl put the fish and pour in the mustard paste in it along with salt and turmeric and mix well. Add half the water . Add in the sliced chillies and sprinkle the cumin powder on top.
  4. Now cover it with a aluminium foil and bake for. about 10 mins in a pre-heat oven at 180 c . After that switch the mode to microwave and let it cook for another 5 mins in high then lower the heat a bit then another 5 mins. Normally the fish gets cooked within this period of time .
  5. If you feel the fish is undercooked then cook for another 10 mins or so till the fish is done.
  6. You might need to add water from time to time because the gravy thickens up . So bring it out pour a bit water and check your salt and mix together everything then put it again in the microwave. Serve it with plain rice. Hope you enjoy.
