ABOUT Chicken Curry RECIPE

This flavorful chicken curry is made in pressure cooker. It is a good combo with rice, idli, dosa and chapati.

Ingredients Serving: 5

  1. Chicken 1 kg
  2. Onion 3 (big ones)
  3. Tomato 4 (medium ones)
  4. Ginger Garlic paste 2-3 tsp
  5. Coconut grated 2 tablespoons
  6. Pepper 1 tsp
  7. Jeera 1 tsp
  8. Fennel Seeds 1 tsp
  9. Coriander powder 1 1/2 tbsp
  10. Chilli powder 3 tsp
  11. Garam masala/chicken masala 2 tsp
  12. Coriander leaves a handful
  13. Curry leaves few
  14. Turmeric powder 1 pinch
  15. Oil as required
  16. Salt as required

Instructions

  1. Clean and wash the chicken well.
  2. Chop onions finely and tomatoes roughly. Grind the chopped tomatoes to a smooth paste.
  3. Dry roast pepper, jeera, fennel seeds. Finally add grated coconut, coriander powder and chilli powder and roast for a few more minutes. Allow it to cool and grind it to a fine paste with required water.
  4. Heat oil in a pressure cooker. Add curry leaves and onion and saute till it changes color. Add ginger garlic paste. Saute well. Add the tomato paste and saute till oil separates.
  5. Add the ground masala and saute for a few minutes.
  6. Add the chicken and mix well. Pour the required water, salt and turmeric.
  7. Add half the chopped coriander leaves and chicken masala and mix well. Cover the pressure cooker and cook for 3 whistles on medium flame.
  8. Once the pressure releases open the lid and add the remaining coriander leaves and serve.
