ABOUT Daal Fara/Fara Prepared With Wheat Flour And Chana RECIPE

Fara is a traditional snack from Uttar Pradesh, especially from Lucknow and Kanpur, which is made from wheat flour, by filling chana dal paste along with spices. some time made from rice flour and urad dal also.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Wheat flour 2 1/2 cup
  2. Chana dal 1 1/2 cup soaked
  3. Green chili chopped 2 tbsp 2 tsp
  4. Salt to taste+ 1 tbsp
  5. Asafoetida 1 tsp
  6. Chopped Coriander leaves 2 tbsp
  7. chopped onion 2 tbsp
  8. Red chili powder 2 tsp
  9. Cumin 1 tsp
  10. Garlic 1 tbsp
  11. oil 2 tbsp
  12. Chopped ginger 1 tsp
  13. Garam masala 1/2 tsp
  14. Coriander for garnishing
  15. For chutney- Coriander leaves 1 bunch
  16. green chili 4
  17. Salt 1 tsp
  18. garlic 2 buds
  19. Dry mango powder or lemon juice 1 tbsp

Instructions

  1. Knead a soft dough with 1 tsp salt and water. Coarsely grind the dal with 1 tbsp salt, heeng, and green chili, add coriander leaves mix well.
  2. Divide the dough into equal small portion and roll out the small poories, stuff with mixture and seal it. Boil 4 glasses of water with 1 tsp salt and 1 tsp oil.
  3. Cook them for 15 minutes. Let them cool. Now cut the fara into round pieces
  4. Now heat the oil in a wok or non-stick pan. Saute the cumin,green chili ,ginger.and onion . Add cooked fara, red chili powder and salt, fry it for 5 to 6 minutes or till the fara becomes golden and crisp.
  5. For chutney--Blend all ingredients with 2 tbsp water. Serve hot with chutney.
