Prawn Rice

Ingredients to make Prawn Rice

  • 500 g prawns deshelled & unveined
  • 2 tsp chilli powder
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
  • salt
  • Other Ingredients -
  • 2 1/2 cups basmati rice
  • 3 onions sliced
  • 2 tomatoes sliced
  • 2 chilli chopped
  • 2 cardamom
  • 3 cloves
  • 1"cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp ginger-garlic paste
  • coriander leaves
  • 1 sprig curry leaves
  • 1 tsp garam masala
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • Juice of 1 / 2 lemon
  • 2 tbsp ghee
  • salt to taste

How to make Prawn Rice

  1. Marinate prawns with the ingredients mentioned.
  2. Wash and soak the rice. Set aside.
  3. In a deep pan pour in the oil and shallow fry the prawns.
  4. Drain the fried prawns and set aside.
  5. In the same oil add the sliced onions.
  6. Saute until onions turn transparent.
  7. Then add in the tomatoes.
  8. Saute until mushy.
  9. Add the ginger garlic paste
  10. Add the garam masala and chopped coriander leaves along with the lemon juice.
  11. Saute well.Splash some water and add the fried prawns.
  12. Mix well and remove the masala to a bowl.Keep it covered.
  13. In the same pan add the required water to cook the rice.
  14. Add in cardamom,Cinnamon ,cloves and curry leaves. Add turmeric powder but it is optional
  15. Once it boils add the rice along with ghee. Adjust salt.
  16. Once the rice is done add the prepared masala and mix gently.
  17. Serve with your favourite accompaniments.
