ABOUT Petha Kheer RECIPE

An extremely refreshing dessert made from famous petha from Agra.

Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. Dry Petha - 100 gms
  2. Full Cream Milk - 1liter
  3. Sugar-2 tbsp
  4. saffron strands
  5. Chopped Almonds
  6. Cardamom powder - 1/2 tsp

Instructions

  1. Grate the petha
  2. Put it in a pan with 1 cup of water and cook it for 5-7 mins or till it becomes soft.
  3. In another pan put the milk for boiling.
  4. Now simmer the gas and let the milk cook till it thickens. This will take about 20-25 mins. Keep stirring in between.
  5. Meanwhile sieve the petha and take out all the water.
  6. When the milk has reduced and thickened, add sugar. Petha is also sweet so check the sweetness accordingly.
  7. Once it has cooled, add petha to it. Add the nuts, saffron and cardamom powder also.
  8. Take out in a serving bowl and keep it in fridge for 2-3hrs.
  9. Sprinkle some nuts on top.
  10. Serve cold.
