  • For dough -

  • atta 1 cup
  • jaggery 1/2 cup
  • salt 1/2 tsp
  • bay leaf 1
  • water 2 cups
  • For filling -
  • Chena 2 cups
  • cardamom 1/2 teaspoon
  • jaggery 1 cup
  • Black pepper powder 1/4 th teaspoon
  • jaggery
  • Khoya 1/2 cup

How to make Suji Kakara Pitha

  1. In a nonstick pan boil water, jaggery and bay leaf.
  2. Then mix suji and atta and put into that boiling water. Stir slightly and when water evaporates, take out from gas and cover it for 10 minutes.
  3. When it cools, make a dough as we do for roti. Keep it aside.
  4. To make filling simply add chena, jaggery and khoya into a hot pan. Slightly fry it for a while to evaporate the moisture. Then add elaichi powder and black pepper powder.
  5. Divide the dough into small portions. Take 1 part and put some filling in it and give different shapes to the dough.
  6. Heat oil in a pan. Put all kakaras in this oil and fry it till the kakaras become dark brown.
  7. Serve hot or cold

My Tip:

You can make filling of coconut also.
