Ingredients to make Masala baati

  • For dough : wheat flour 1 cup
  • turmeric powder 1/2 tsp
  • salt to taste
  • water as required
  • For stuffing Boiled cooled and mash potatoes 2
  • Boiled peas 1/4 cup
  • oil 1 tbsp
  • cumin seeds 1 tsp
  • hing 1/4 tsp
  • Crushed coriander seeds 1 tsp
  • red chilli powder 1 tsp
  • Garam masala 1 tsp
  • ghee for frying baati

How to make Masala baati

  1. For dough: Combine all the ingredients in a deep bowl.
  2. And knead into a firm dough using water.
  3. Knead well for 3 to 4 minutes keep aside for 20 minutes.
  4. For stuffing: Heat the oil in a broad non-stick pan and add the cumin seeds and hing.
  5. When the seeds crackle, add the green peas and little salt.
  6. Other side take a bowl add potatoes, coriander crushed, chilli powder, salt, garam masala and turmeric powder.
  7. Add potato mixture and pea mixture together in a bowl. Allow stuffing to cool completely Now take a little portion from dough and place stuffing in the center of the flattened round dough.
  8. Bring together all the sides, seal it tightly and remove any excess dough.
  9. Heat the ghee in a deep non-stick kadhai, add baatis and deep-fry till they turn golden brown in colour from all the sides.
