About Egg Halwa Recipe

Egg halwa is prepared for special occasions/events at my in - laws place. The taste and texture of this dessert is extremely soft, mild yet flavourful. Best enjoyed when served warm.

Egg Halwa

Ingredients to make Egg Halwa

  • eggs - 6
  • Milk - 1 1/2 cup
  • sugar - 1/2 cup
  • semolina/rava/sooji - 1/8 cup
  • clarified butter (ghee) - 2 to 3 tbsp
  • oil - 2 tsp
  • cardamom powder - 1/2 tsp
  • saffron - few strands
  • almonds for garnishing

How to make Egg Halwa

  1. In a heavy bottom vessel, add semolina, beat the eggs into it, adding milk, saffron, cardamom, oil and clarified butter and keep stirring it continuously on low to medium flame to get even colour.
  2. Let the mixture get combined well and when all the milk is absorbed, add sugar, almost in the end and stir until it blends well and the oil leaves sides of the pan.
  3. This complete process may take a little longer time as this has to cooked on low flame.
  4. Finally serve warm and garnish with sliced almonds.
