How to make Dal Tadka

  1. Soak the dal for 10 to 15 minutes. Take a cooker add the dal, to this add the finely cut tomatoes, garlic, onion and coriander leaves turmeric powder and chilli powder along with 2 to 3 cups water. Let it cook for 3 whistles.
  2. Once the cooker cools down, give the dal a single stir with ladle. Add salt and stir well.
  3. In a cooking pan, pour in some oil, once it's heated add in the mustard seeds. Let this crackle. To this add in cumin seeds, red chillies, curry leaves and fine cut onion slices.
  4. To get a nice even golden shade in the tadka, fry it on a medium to low flame.
  5. Meanwhile heat the dal to a required consistency and put it in a serving dish. Once the tadka is ready, pour it on the dal.
