Sindhi Traditional Recipe- Chickpea dumplings cooked in spicy gravy base

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. For the gravy - 2 onions, boiled and pureed
  2. 3 tomatoes, pureed
  3. 1 teaspoon ginger garlic paste
  4. 2 Green Chillies, chopped
  5. 2 teaspoon coriander powder
  6. 1 teaspoon jeera
  7. 2 cloves
  8. 4 tablespoon oil
  9. To garnish, green coriander leaves
  10. For the Dharan- 2 cups chickpea flour
  11. 1 onion, finely chopped
  12. 3 tablespoon curd
  13. oil to fry
  14. 3 tablespoon oil
  15. 1 tablespoon khus khus
  16. Salt to taste
  17. 1 teaspoon red chili powder
  18. Water as needed

Instructions

  1. For the Dharan- Mix the besan, salt, onion, red chili powder, khus -khus, oil.
  2. Using curd, make a soft dough.
  3. Generally, rolls are made and boiled and then it is deep fried, after cutting into 1-inch pieces.
  4. But, I gave them a Tikki shape.
  5. So, make small Tikkis.
  6. Boil sufficient water in which these can be boiled.
  7. Boil for 7 to 10 minutes on medium flame and switch off.
  8. Let them cool completely.
  9. Then deep fry them.
  10. To prepare the base- Heat oil in a pan.
  11. Add in the jeera and let it splutter.
  12. Add the onion puree.
  13. Fry till color change.
  14. Add in ginger garlic paste.
  15. Add the tomato puree.
  16. Fry well.
  17. Add all seasonings, salt, whole masala
  18. Cook till done
  19. Add the water in which the Tikkis were boiled.
  20. Put in the Tikkis.
  21. Let cook till the desired consistency you need.
  22. Garnish and serve with ghee Phulkas.
