This is a healthy soup and it helps to lower cholesterol and helps in managing blood sugar levels. This soup is very easy to prepare and try to have this atleast twice in a week.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. 1/4 cup masoor dal (red lentil)
  2. 1 cup Drumstick leaves
  3. 1 tsp white pepper powder
  4. 1/4 tsp jeera powder
  5. 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  6. 1 tbsp unsalted butter
  7. Few drops Lemon juice


  1. Wash the drumstick leaves well and remove the tiny stems completely. Soak the masoor dal with 1/2 cup of water for 10 minutes.
  2. Take a small pressure cooker or pan and add the soaked dal and drumstick leaves. Keep on low flame and pressure cook for 2 whistles.
  3. Remove cooker from heat. Allow it to cool naturally. Open the cooker and mash the dal gently with the back of a ladle.
  4. Add the jeera powder, turmeric powder, white pepper powder and required salt. Simmer to obtain a soup consistency (approximately 9 minutes), stirring occasionally.(if you want you can add some water). Finally, add the butter and switch off the flame.
  5. Transfer the soup to the serving bowl and add a tsp of lemon juice to each bowl before serving. Serve it immediately.
