Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. 2 cup Urad dal
  2. 2 cup Toor dal
  3. 2 cup Moong dal
  4. 2 cup Chana dal
  5. 1 cup Rice
  6. 2 spoon Yoghurt
  7. 3/4 cup grated Bottle gourd
  8. 1 spoon Eno
  9. 1& 1/2 spoon Sugar
  10. 1/4 spoon Chilli powder
  11. 1/4 spoon Turmeric
  12. 1 spoon Ginger green chilli paste
  13. 1/2 spoon Mustard seeds
  14. 1/2 spoon Sesame seeds
  15. 1/2 cup grated Cabbage
  16. 1/2 cup grated Carrot
  17. Asafoetida
  18. Salt to taste
  19. Oil
  20. Curry leaves
  21. Cilantro


  1. To make Handva batter: In a bowl take lentils & rice, soak overnight grind it next morning with 2 tbsp of curd and water. Mix it well.
  2. .Cover the Handva batter with lid and keep it aside to get fermented over night or 10-12 hours in a warm place. To make Handva mix
  3. Once the Handva batter is fermented, add grated vegetables: bottle gourd, grated cabbage, carrot and mix it well.
  4. Add ginger, green chillies, turmeric powder and salt to taste.
  5. Mix the batter well and check the consistency. Add a little water if required to adjust the consistency.make Tadka in oil add mustard seeds silted green chillies curry leaves sesame seeds and asafoetida..add 3spoon of Tadka to the batter and keep the rest aside add 1 spoon, Eno.
  6. Now put this batter in cup cake tray . with the remaining Tadka and some red chilli powder sprinkled.
  7. Preheat the oven to 180 degrees and Cook for 20 min and check 2 time its ready or not.
