ABOUT Dry Dates Sweet Pickle RECIPE

Very delicious and yummy sweet pickle made from sugar, jaggery, mangoes, dry dates and spices. You can store it for a whole year. I learned this from my mother.

Ingredients Serving: 10

  1. Dry Dates (chuaare) - 500 gm
  2. Raw Mango - 2
  3. Jaggery - 300 gm (white)
  4. Groundnut Oil - 1 litter
  5. Pickle Masala - 300 gm
  6. Dry Red Chili - 7-8
  7. Raw Mango Water Salted - 2 glass


  1. Grate the jaggery and keep aside. Cut one mango into medium pieces and keep aside. Grate the other mango for the masala and keep aside.
  2. Take a bowl add dry dates and water leave for 5 minute and wash. Drain the water and add these dates to mango water. Keep overnight.
  3. Pat dry the dates on muslin cloth or cotton cloth, put them in bowl, cover and keep in a dark place for 7 to 8 hours.
  4. Keep the masala ready. Take a large bowl, add grated jaggery, grated mango and pickle masala. Mix all the ingredients and keep aside.
  5. When dry dates are completely devoid of moisture fill the mixture of pickle masala in the dry dates and keep them in a glass bowl. Add the leftover masala on top and mix. Add the mango pieces and cover with a lid.
  6. Mix it with spatula every morning and evening. It takes 5 to 6 days to set.
  7. After 5-6 days heat oil in a pan oil and bring it to smoke. Switch off the gas and add red chilli powder. Let it cool to room temperature.
  8. Pour this oil mixture in the pickle bowl after it completely cools. It takes 5-6 hours for cooling.
  9. After a week your pickle will be ready to eat. Enjoy this pickle with roti, chapati, thepla, puri or paratha throughout the year.
