Roomali Roti & Chana Masala

Ingredients to make Roomali Roti & Chana Masala

  • 2 Cups - chana, soaked overnight
  • 3 Cups - Whole wheat atta
  • 2 Cups - Chopped tomatoes
  • 1 Cup - Sliced onions
  • Spices - cardamom, Cinnamon, Cloves
  • 2 tsp - chana masala
  • salt to taste
  • 1 Cup - Chopped onions and lime to decorate
  • 3-4 cloves - Garlic
  • 2 tsp - chilli powder
  • 3-4 pinches - coriander leaves

How to make Roomali Roti & Chana Masala

  1. Soak the chana in water overnight and pressure cook for 3-4 whistles till chana is soft but not mushy.
  2. In a pan heat oil and saute the onions and garlic till translucent. Add the spices and tomato and sauté till done.
  3. Blend this mixture along with some cooked channa.
  4. Heat oil and add this mixture and water and when this boils add salt and chilli powder. Add the chana and chana masala. Cook till done.
  5. Top with coriander leaves and onions.
  6. To make roomali roti : Kneed chapati dough and make thin and large rotis with it. Take a pan and when hot sprinkle some salt water and make rotis.
  7. Keep pressing rotis so they don't get burnt they should be really soft.

My Tip:

Adding a bit of chaat masala will make the chana masala taste yummy.
