Sago Upma

Ingredients to make Sago Upma

  • 1 Cup - Soaked sabudana
  • 1 - potato
  • 1/4 - Cabagge
  • 1/2 - capsicum
  • 1 - onion
  • 1 - tomato
  • 2 - Green chilies
  • 2 tbsp - Chopped coriander leaves
  • 2 tbs - peanuts
  • 8-10 - curry leaves
  • salt as per taste
  • 1/2 tsp - mustard seeds
  • 1/2 tsp - red chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp - sugar
  • 1 tsp - lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp - Garam masala
  • 3 tbs - oil

How to make Sago Upma

  1. Soak sabudana for 2-3 hours.
  2. Chop all the veggies you want to add into small pieces.
  3. Shallow fry peanuts and potatoes and take them out in a bowl.
  4. In a nonstick pan heat oil and add mustard seeds and curry leaves. When the seeds crackle add onions, capsicum and cabbage, stir fry and add the soaked sabudana.
  5. Add fried potatoes, peanuts and all the spices.
  6. Cover with lid and cook for 5 mins on low flame. Turn off the flame and add sugar and lemon juice.
  7. Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot.

My Tip:

We can add 2 tablespoon tomato sauce to enhance the taste. Let it rest covered for at least 4-5 minutes after preparing. You can make it without onions too.
