ABOUT Little millet(Saamai) lemon rice RECIPE

The easiest and delicious rice made with tangy lemon juice and healthy Saamai Millet. This recipe requires very less effort and you can easily pack in for your lunch box.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. 1  cup little millet (saamai)
  2. 1.5  cup water
  3. 1 or 1 tbsp lemon juice
  4. 1/2 tsp Mustard
  5. 1/2 tsp Urid dal
  6. 2 green chillies, chopped finely
  7. 10 curry leaves
  8. 10 roasted peanuts
  9. 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  10. 1/4 tsp asafoetdia powder
  11. 3 tbsp gingely oil
  12. Salt

Instructions

  1. Wash the rice gently and pressure cook with 1.5  cup of water for 2- 4 whistles on low flame.
  2. Spread the rice in a plate and add a tsp of oil and few chopped curry leaves over the rice.
  3. Heat oil in a frying pan on medium heat. Add mustard and urid dal. When urid dal turns golden brown add the chopped green chillies and curry leaves, and stir for few seconds.
  4. Add turmeric powder, asafoetdia powder and mix it well.
  5. Now add the cooked rice, salt and lemon juice. Switch off the flame and mix well. Serve it with potato fry.
