In odisha besara curry is so regular food in every house. Mustard flavour in any veg or fish is called besara. So l gave a mustard flavour to bottle gourd with a little twist for yellow in plate. It was amazing dish.

Ingredients Serving: 1

  1. Bottle gourd 200gms
  2. Gram flour 1/2cup
  3. Coconut 5to 6 Pisces
  4. Mustard seeds 1spoon
  5. Cumin seeds 1/2tspn
  6. Cashewnuts 5 to 6 Pisces
  7. Melon seeds 1/2 0spoon
  8. Turmeric 1/2tspn
  9. Red Chilly 2
  10. Salt to taste
  11. Sugar 1pinch
  12. Lemon juice 1/2tspn

Instructions

  1. Peel out the skin of bottle gourd and cut it in round Pisces. If you dont like seeds then must remove it.
  2. Marinate these pieces with salt and turmeric.
  3. Make a batter of gramflours by adding salt, turmeric and red chilly powder.Deep the marinated bottle gourd in the batter.
  4. Heat oil in a pan and deep fry all the pieces till became golden brown.
  5. Again make a paste of all dry ingredients except gramflour.
  6. In a pan add mustard oil .when it become hot add mustard seeds , curry leaves and then put the above paste. Add a little water , salt and sugar to it. When it started boiling add the fried bottle gourd to it. Cover the pan and make the flame slow. Leave it for 20 minutes.
  7. Put lemon juice and mustard oil on top .serve hot.
