ABOUT Melt in mouth mixed lentil medu vadas... RECIPE

Nutritious and delicious both in one. This is what these vadas contain. Not only do they look beautiful but they are damn healthy too. Made with lentils that are power packed with various nutrients, these surely make for an excellent tea time snack that can be enjoyed on any given day. The best part is that they are not at all oily compared to it's famous counterpart - The Medu Vada. These are not drenched in oil also. Absolutely healthy for your families and heart friendly too. Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. Bengal gram or chana dal 3/4 th cup
  2. Yellow lentils or moong dal 3/4 th cup
  3. green gram or sabut hari moong 3/4 th cup
  4. salt to taste
  5. red chilli powder 1 1/2 tbsp
  6. onion large finely chopped 1
  7. turmeric 1/2 tsp
  8. cumin powder 1 tsp
  9. Crushed coriander seeds 1 tsp
  10. green chillies chopped finely 2
  11. yoghurt 3 tbsp
  12. Grated ginger 1 tbsp
  13. baking soda 1/4 th tsp
  14. curry leaves chopped a handful
  15. coriander leaves chopped a handful
  16. oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Soak all the three dals atleast for 3 hours or overnight.
  2. Add all the ingredients except the green chillies,grated ginger, onion, coriander and curry leaves and grind.
  3. Grind the dals coarsely with as little water as possible if required.
  4. No need to add water if not required.
  5. The batter should be thick and not watery.
  6. Next mix in the remaining ingredients left.
  7. Heat enough oil for frying on medium flame.
  8. Shape into medu vadas after greasing your palm a little.
  9. Deep fry on medium to high flame.
  10. Fry in batches.
  11. Nutritious and delicious vadas are ready to be enjoyed with any chutney of your choice.
