Ingredients Serving: 6

  1. For medu vada
  2. 3 Katori soaked urad dal
  3. 2 piece ginger
  4. 2 chopped onion
  5. 2-3 chopped green chillies
  6. 10-15 kari patta
  7. Water for grinding
  8. Oil for frying
  9. For sambhar
  10. 1.5 katori soaked the dal
  11. Kari patta
  12. 1 tea spoon Rai
  13. 1 tea spoon turmeric powder
  14. 1 chopped onion
  15. Any chopped vegetable (petha, capsicum, drumsticks)
  16. 2 tea spoon dhaniya powder
  17. 2 tea spoon red chili powder
  18. Hing
  19. Salt to taste
  20. Imli water(imli soaked in water for 10-15 minutes)
  21. 1 tomato
  22. Pinch of sugar
  23. 2.5 tea spoon sambhar powder
  24. For chutney
  25. 1 chopped coconut
  26. Kari patta
  27. 2-3 green chillies
  28. Salt to taste
  29. Pinch of sugar


  1. For medu vada
  2. Grind urad dal ginger and green chillies in a thick paste
  3. Mix chopped onion, Kari patta salt hing and mix well till all is mixed homogeneously
  4. Dip your hand in water put the paste on hand make hole in it n put in oil
  5. Fry on medium flame till golden brown
  6. For Sambhar
  7. Boil tur dal with tomato and salt
  8. Take kadai put oil, Rai Kari patta and chopped onion
  9. Saute till golden brown add chopped vegetable, tomato and imli water
  10. Add turmeric powder, dhaniya powder and red chili powder let it boil
  11. Add sambhar powder and boiled dal mix well after one boil add hing and partially cover it and let it boil for 10-15 minutes
  12. For chutney
  13. In the grinder put coconut, green chillies, coriander leaves, and all d ingredients and grind it well .
  14. If want to put tadka den take oil let it get warm add Rai Kari patta n add in chutney
  15. Medu vada sambhar and chutney ready to eat
