Crispy Onion Rings coated with honey chilli sauce is a fusion recipe which will surely tantalise your taste buds and make you crave for more. Served as Hors de oeuvre or as a side dish they are a complete hit.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Onion rings
  2. 2 large Onions peeled
  3. 1 cup Rice flour
  4. 1 cup club soda
  5. 1/4th teaspoon Salt
  6. A pinch of pepper
  7. Oil for frying
  8. Sauce
  9. 2 teaspoon soy sauce
  10. 6 tablespoon hot and sweet tomato ketchup
  11. 2 tablespoon honey
  12. 3 teaspoon Cornflour mixed in 1/2 cup water
  13. 2 tablespoon oil
  14. Salt to taste
  15. 1/2 teaspoon Pepper
  16. 1 tablespoon Oregano
  17. 1/2 tablespoon chilli flakes
  18. 6 Slit Green chilli
  19. 1 tablespoon crushed Garlic
  20. 1 tablespoon roasted seasame
  21. 2 tablespoon chopped parsley

Instructions

  1. Peel the onions, cut into thick roundells and seperate the rings.
  2. Heat oil in a deep skillet until it reaches a temperature of 180 degree celsius.
  3. In a bowl mix rice flour, soda, salt and pepper to form a smooth batter of coating consistency.
  4. Dip the onions and coat them evenly.
  5. Working in batches fry the onions till golden brown and keep aside.
  6. SAUCE
  7. Heat 1 tablespoon oil in a frying pan and saute the crushed garlic.
  8. Add soy sauce, hot and sweet tomato ketchup, and cornflour mixture and mix.
  9. Add oregano, chilli flakes, green chillies salt and pepper and give it a whisk.
  10. Turn off the heat and let the sauce rest.
  11. When the sauce is just warm add the crispy fried onion rings and mix till they are coated with the sauce.
  12. Garnish with chopped green parsley and toasted seasame seeds.
