Ingredients to make onion chutney. southindian delicacy

  • sambhar onion( pearl onion)-1/2cup
  • onion- 1/2 cup
  • red chilli-4-6 [according to personal taste]
  • tamarind - 1 tbsp
  • groundnut - 2tbsp
  • oil - 1 tbsp
  • salt to taste
  • For Tempering:
  • curry leaves
  • mustard seeds 1tsp/2tsp
  • oil-1tbls

How to make onion chutney. southindian delicacy

  1. boil red chillies in water for 2-3 minutes and keep aside for 15 minutes. cool it.
  2. heat oil in a pan and sauté both the onions
  3. add groundnuts with onion and fry for 3-4minutes.
  4. cool it
  5. add tamarind, salt, red chillies and onions and grind in mixer to smooth paste.
  6. heat oil in a pan for tempting.
  7. add mustard seeds,when they crackle ,add curry leaves fry for 1 minute.
  8. mix it in chutney
  9. garnish with sautéed curry leaves .
