ABOUT Khandeshi Red Chutney/ Nistyachi Chutney RECIPE

Nistyachi chutney is famous and favourite preparation if red chillies and onion. It is served with methi or jowar/ bajari bhakari. It is a usual part of dinner in khandesh region. It follows really simple steps but brings out a unique taste. You can serve this with paratha or even as bread spread.

Ingredients Serving: 2

  1. Whole red chillies 4
  2. onion 1 medium
  3. Garlic paste 1 teaspoon
  4. Coriander leaves 1 cup
  5. Turmeric 1/2 inch
  6. Jaggery 1 teaspoon
  7. Curry leaves 4-5
  8. Coriander seeds 1 Teaspoon
  9. Salt to taste
  10. Oil 1 teaspoon
  11. Tempering: cumin and mustard seeds, asafotida

Instructions

  1. Take all ingredients
  2. Roast red chillies on tawa
  3. Roast onion till brown on tawa
  4. Blend them all together with other ingredients to smooth paste in grinder. Add a little water to make paste.
  5. Heat oil in a vessel
  6. Add tempering of cumin and mustard seeds and asafotida
  7. Add ground chutney and mix well
  8. Add Salt as per taste
  9. Boil once and remove from flame and serve.
