ABOUT Daal Nawabi RECIPE

This is a royal recipe. Perfect combination of red chilli powder, saffron, spices, cream and milk too. It has a nice smoky taste. In this recipe turmeric has not been and only good quality of saffron for yellow colour has been used.

Ingredients Serving: 4

  1. Arhar (Tur) daal 1/2 cup
  2. Red chilli powder 2 teaspoon
  3. Salt to taste
  4. Water 1 cup
  5. Saffron 1 pinch
  6. Hot milk 2 tablespoon
  7. Milk 1 cup (room temperature)
  8. Lemon juice 1 tablespoon
  9. Amul fresh cream 1/4 cup
  10. Ginger-garlic roughly crushed 1 tablespoon
  11. Finely chopped green coriander leaves 2 tablespoon
  12. Grated smoked cheese 2 tablespoon
  13. Ghee 4 tablespoon
  14. Green cardmon powder 1/4 teaspoon
  15. Laung powder 1/4 teaspoon

Instructions

  1. Wash the daal and put it in a utensil.
  2. Add water, red chilli powder and salt to the dal.
  3. Cook on high flame for 3 minutes until daal is cooked.
  4. Take 1 cup room temperature milk and add lemon juice and keep aside for 5 minutes.
  5. Whisk amul cream and curdle milk lemon juice mixture in a bowl and keep aside.
  6. When the daal is cooked and water is fully absorbed, mash the dal.
  7. Add cream and milk mixture to the dal.
  8. Mix saffron and hot milk, keep aside for 5 minutes. Add saffron milk mixture, green cardmom and laung powder or paste.
  9. Heat ghee and ginger garlic for tempering.
  10. Pour this tempering on the daal.
  11. I did not find coal so I am using grated 2 tablespoon smoked cheese for smoking flavour.
  12. Lastly add green coriander leaves and smokedcheese.vNow daal is ready for serving.
