Ingredients Serving: 10

  1. 1 cup condensed milk
  2. 3 cups grated coconut
  3. 1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder
  4. 1 pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preparation of Dulche de leche:
  2. Place the condensed milk in a container along with salt.
  3. For double boiler, place water in a pot so that the condensed milk level is below to the water level and bring to boil.
  4. Close the condensed milk container and place in the pot. Keep a steamer plate in a pot so that the container doesn't topple.
  5. Simmer for 1.5 hours without removing the container's lid. Keep replenishing with water in the pot as water level decreases.
  6. After 1.5 hours remove from double boiler pot and allow it to cool down. By now the colour of the condensed milk should have turned to brownish tint.
  7. Preheat the oven to 170 degree celsius.
  8. Rub the grated coconut with kitchen towels to remove extra moisture.
  9. After the milk cools down add grated coconut, cardamom powder and mix it so that the coconut gets coated with the condensed milk.
  10. Spread the parchment sheet on a tray.
  11. Scoop the mixture in small quantity and place on the tray leaving an inch space in between the macaroons.
  12. Now place the tray in the oven.
  13. Bake for 18 minutes.
  14. Remove from oven and allow it to cool down.
  15. After it cools down, store in airtight container.
